The Shopping Bag

I'm really sorry about the lack of updates but photobucket is being a pain in the butt and i have alot of photos that i would really love to share. Anyways, have all of you been to the newly opened Uniqlo store at causeway point?Surprisingly, it has most of the stuff that you see at the Orchard outlets. What i like about Uniqlo is their shopping bags. Its much more interesting to carry a nice looking shopping bag than a plastic one.

Janie Taylor for Chloe

Janie Taylor for Chloe

I'm not familiar with Janie Taylor but what i can say is that she dances beautifully in Chloe's spring collection. Imagine walking on the sidewalk while the wind blows at you :)

Pardon for my lack of posts this week because i was busting my butt off, writing forms for clients buying an apartment and it was sure fun! Work was good and for the 1st time, i just sat and write and write 90% of the time. The shots that were taken above was during an evening out with my lovely family and truthfully, it was really a good night. Its been years since my dad took us all out on his truck and all of us felt like we were on top of the world! We had bone steak and then we had a great Mcds supper and it was a hell of a time and finally i got the chance to check out the woodlands waterfront. Maybe one day, i will take some outfit shots there :D
Have a good week xoxo.

Instead of an outfit post, its all about food! Besides being a girl who likes clothes, I SIMPLY LOVE FOOD! Even though i'm muslim and there are strict rules in terms of food having to be labeled halal and in addition, Singapore is really small so you can imagine it is a little difficult to try a variety of food here. I have heard about this restaurant, The Manhattan Fish Market and initially i thought it was non-halal but i was wrong. Its something new and i like to welcome new things for me to try :D
So, i decided to celebrate my best friend's belated birthday there with dinner sponsored by yours truly and he was game to try something new. We went to the yishun outlet and in case anyone was wondering, there are 2 areas that you can choose to sit and enjoy your meal.
We had their signature fish and chips and the thing that i like about this restaurant is that you get a choice in choosing your type of fish which is either dory or cod. However, the prices of fish is different so maybe thats a step back. The fish prepared by them is similar to what fish and co. has to offer but i will tell you this : Manhattan Fish Market is slightly more affordable than Fish and co, however the portion at Fish and co is bigger so just in case you guys get confused about these 2 restaurants.
For drinks, I got the Citrus Mint whereas my friend got a cup of cappuccino. I have to say that in the menu, it states that its a drink of crushed ice in refreshing lemon juice drink with a dash of cool mint. Well, i couldn't taste the mint and its more of a lime drink instead of a lemon drink. There is a difference between lime (the green one) and lemon (the yellow one).
At the end of the meal, i treated my friend the Manhattan Mud Pie as his own birthday cake and he absolutely loved it! Its more like an ice-cream cake with lots of chocolate syrup..yum yum tum!
It was a pleasant experience at the restaurant and we ended the night by watching Thor! I know this post is lengthy but i hope it helps. I'm not a professional food critic but a simple girl who has a stomach to eat tons of food!
xoxo

Tshirt, Cotton On. Blazer, Vintage. Pleated Skirt, Imej via Metro. Oversized Bag, Bought in Korea. Cutout Sandals, Cotton On. Sunglasses, Vintage.

This was the outfit that i threw on for an interview at Toa Payoh. I really wanted to put together an interview outfit that was really me but not over the top that would make me look i'm too cool for school and what better way than the colour gold. Gold are for winners and it truly stands out on its own so i had to keep the accessories and layerings at a basic colour. Fyi, i couldn't believe that pleated skirt was found at Metro! I believe that you just have to take your time and sort through the racks as fast as possible before someone else finds it. Even though Singapore is very conservative and has only 2 kinds of weather, you still can play with clothes and mix and match. :D

p.s if you still haven't vote for my design, you still have time to do so by clicking on this link and by voting, you stand a chance to win a $154 gift card too! Its a win win situation for me and for you. If you have voted, i truly appreciate it with all my heart!Thank You!

Metro Card Design Contest 2011

Photobucket

Hey guys, i'm finally able to put up this post ever since blogger was down for maintenance. Anyways, as a designer i like to put myself out there and get involve in contests and competitions locally or internationally. Metro, Singapore's own lovable department store is having a contest whereby anyone can participate to come up with a design for their upcoming birthday card. The winner will win a $1000 gift card and the winning design will be chosen as the official birthday card for their exclusive members. The above image is my entry for the contest and for me, the design simply says that Metro stands out from others and no matter what, it will alway be forever young :D So this is the part where i need your help..
All you have to do is click on this link and vote for my design. In fact, by voting, you could also stand a chance to win a $150 gift card for yourself too and not only 1, but 3 lucky voters would be chosen. Please vote for my design because you have only a week left to vote.
In fact, if i win, i would use a part of that money to purchase one of my favourite items from Metro and give it as a gift :D
I truly appreciate to those of you who have voted for me and reading my blog every single day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Blazer, Vintage. Tshirt, Official MJ Club. Pants, Style Plus. Oversized Messenger Bag, Bought in Korea. Oxfords, New Look.

Had an overdue lunch with my cousin at Ayam Penyet Ria which btw, i love the crumbs :D What perfect way to pair my favourite music icon tshirt with a perfect vintage blazer at a price of $3, so i brought it out to play! There is this topic that i think all those who have a passion for fashion would have heard about which is : Would you buy a fake Louis Vuitton bag than the real one?
I know those who are really serious about fashion would give an absolute NO because having the real thing would mean that you are one of the lucky few and you would be in an "exclusive" club. But would you really buy a real balenciaga motor bag that cost a few thousand dollars rather than an imitation or us singaporeans would call "inspired bags"?
The practical side of me would say of course i would buy the fake ones because i would rather pay my bills using that money that could buy me those bags. However, if i were to be the designer, those bags would be my livelihood. I would want people to buy my "a few thousand" dollars bags. I know how designers feel when they see people "copy" their designs and sell it at a lower price because i've been there. I studied 4 years majoring in interior design and i know that it is very very difficult to be able to come up with your own designs without having comparisons with people because the past designs were the ones that nurtured and taught us the beginnings of everything. However, if i were the designer, i would make a contract clause to everyone. If you want to buy a fake bag, you can..but you have to buy the real thing when you save up! Its a win win situation!
If you have any comments about this matter, feel free to write it in the comments box because i sure do love a good discussion :D

I know this post is long overdue but better late than never, i say. Anyways, it was my sister's 22nd birthday (one with the spectacles) and my big sister decided to treat us to dinner at fish and co. It is really rare that the 3 of us went out and have dinner together and of course, i didn't foot the bill since i'm the youngest! My big sis ordered New York Fish and Chips, which had parmesan cheese stuffed inside it!! I got the Arctic Fish and Chips which i thought would be the same and damn it! Lets just say i almost wanted to strangle her for not telling me because i love food when its mixed with parmesan cheese. FYI, these fishes are sinful yet taste oh so good! Fries are super thick and the fishes are topped with their own sauce. Then, we had the seafood mushroom soup if i remembered correctly (?) It tasted good but i prefer their signature fish chowder. We also had their mashed potato which my big sis like. I prefer my mashed potatoes to have thick gravy just like KFC! The birthday girl wanted the grilled calamari which i thought wasn't that bad but the more i shoved them in my mouth, the more i like them..haha..
For drinks, we had the sharkie freeze which is like this huge mug thats filled with slurrpee-styled passion fruit blend and let me warn you : DO NOT DRINK THIS ALONE!
I think my sis took the chokie junkie because i cant really remember since this was in april so again, i apologise for the delay. I like Fish and Co. but truthfully, i would recommend anyone who wanted to eat something sinful and fishy to go to Fish and Co Express that caters to those who are on a very tight budget and when you are there, don't forget to get their fish chowder because you won't be disappointed!
